CBD packaging is defined as a means, or set of means, intended to encompass or wrap a CBD product or a set of CBD products, to ensure their temporary protection from a physical, chemical, mechanical, biological point of view, in order to maintain quality and their integrity in the state of delivery, during handling, transport, storage and sale until consumption or until the expiration of the warranty period as well as to facilitate these operations.

Packaging is no longer considered a simple utilitarian object, the concept of packaging evolving in close connection with the development of the science of goods and with the requirements and protection of consumers and the environment. The Function of Conservation and Protection of the Product and the Environment
Through this function, the packaging has the role of protecting the CBD products against the action of external factors, such as:
- Physical factors (temperature, humidity, light, mechanical shocks, etc.);
- Chemical factors (acids, oxidizing agents, etc.);
- Biological factors (microorganisms existing in the environment, etc.).
The material from which the packaging is made (depending on the nature of the CBD product), the constructive shape, the packaging method ensures the fulfillment of the conservation and protection function of the products. For the protection of some goods, the primary packaging (direct contact with the product), the secondary packaging (which brings additional protection to the product and can also ensure its exposure) and the tertiary packaging, which is the transport or collective packaging (group several secondary packaging) are used.
Ethylene is naturally found in products, especially vegetables and fruits, helping to age packaged products. One of the systems used to remove it is based on a bag containing potassium permanganate embedded in a silicate gel. The gel absorbs ethylene and permanganate oxidizes it to acetate and ethanol.
Thermal Insulation
Thermal insulation protects CBD from the destructive effects of temperature, thus increasing the shelf life. Among the known methods, the most representative are the non-woven plastics provided with air pockets, the polyester packaging with a layer of gel and the foam bags specially designed for this purpose.
Moisture Absorbers
A number of new packaging has the property of reducing the activity of water on the surface of CBD. One of these systems consists of three layers: a layer of propylene glycol and two sheets of sealed polyvinyl alcohol at the ends that frame it. When CBD is packaged, excess water is released due to osmotic pressure and produces a microbiological inhibition on the surface of the product.
